Team CRC
Building Connections, Creating Opportunities in Crewe.
Meet the passionate volunteers driving our mission.

Annette Cormack
Managing Director
With over 40 years experience of working in the public & voluntary sector my passion is for helping people lead fulfilling & positive lives.
I am the only original Director, establishing CRC in 2012 following redundancy. Initially set up as a youth project, when I took over the lead role in 2013 the primary focus became the repairing & restoring of bikes.
Our business model is based on the ethos of providing the best quality “green” transport for our customers at an affordable price. Providing an inclusive, nurturing, strength based environment for all our team members is what makes them feel valued & keen to give back to our local community.

Audrey Boston
Funding Director
I joined CRC in March 2020. After a career in IT project management, I wanted to put my business knowledge and skills to good use in the voluntary sector. Audrey was appointed Director in October 2021 and currently leads on Funding.
She is passionate about securing CRC’s future by ensuring it has a solid financial base.
Unlike many of her fellow CRC volunteers, Audrey is scared of cycling after an incident some years ago.
Will 2025 be the year she conquers that fear?

Andy Macfarlane
Finance Director
I have been the Finance Director for 18 months, following the retirement of the previous incumbent. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to help out Community Recycle Cycles.
I work as an accountant and being able to transfer this skills set over to help something I enjoy in my leisure time, is great.
I hope to help CRC continue to be financially secure and be a great asset to the local community.

Kim
Mechanic
I started at CRC as a volunteer in January 2024 and became a paid member of staff three months later.
My role is cycle mechanic and I am responsible for repairing customers bikes, helping volunteers to develop their skills and delivering cycle maintenance lessons to members of the public.
What I enjoy is being part of a diverse workforce and I love helping others to realize their potential. Annette provides lots of career development opportunities, which has allowed my confidence as a cycle mechanic to grow.
As I am currently working alongside my undergraduate studies, my intention for the future is to become a full-time member of CRC staff upon my graduation. I hope that the skills I learn during the course of my Engineering degree will benefit CRC as it moves with the ever evolving cycle industry.

Jon
External Events Team
I have been at Community Recycle Cycles since 2014, after I worked for Smarter Ways to Travel.
My current role is External Events lead and as a part of the Social Media team.
I enjoy being at CRC as I feel that I can give back to my local community.
My hope for the future is to make the bike shop as successful as possible.

Harry
Apprentice Mechanic
I have been at CRC for 4 years and am now completing my apprenticeship with them.
So far I have completed the CyTech 1 and will have CyTech 2 when I finish my apprenticeship.
I enjoy fixing bikes and working with others and I want to continue working with bikes in the future

Les
Assistant Manager
I have been volunteering here since 2019 and my role is now Assistant Manager. My role involves me managing the stock, working as a mechanic in the workshop and helping customers on the retail side.
What I particularly enjoy is helping the team, supporting new volunteers and young people when they come on work experience from schools.
In the future I hope that the shop will continue to grow and develop new areas of work.

Jazz
Social Media Volunteer
I started here 18 months ago in 2023. My role here is to do the Social Media, especially Facebook.
I enjoy being here because everyone is really nice and you get a good laugh.
My hope is to get a full time job in the future.

Jo
Volunteer
I started in July 2018 as an admin assistant, keeping records of donations, sales and repairs as well as other admin tasks.
I enjoy working with different people and in the future I hope to get a paid part time job.

Benji
Volunteer
I started in 2012, am now the number one cleaner for the shop and help in the workshop fixing punctures.
I enjoy making brews for the team and teasing the others for a cheeky laugh.
I would like to stay here and learn more about fixing bikes.

Chris
Volunteer
I started at CRC in October 2021, about a month after moving here from 43 years in Florida.
My role is mostly as a mechanic, but occasionally I help out in the showroom, making adjustments and general customer service. I’ve also been known to contribute to social media.
I like the feeling of inclusion and friendship and the education I’ve acquired from more skilled mechanics during my time here at CRC.
In the future I would hope for a more stable work schedule, allowing me to predict when and how much I can volunteer.

Jack
Volunteer
I have been here since November 2024. I like getting to learn more about the mechanics of a bike, and learning from other people’s experiences. I want to continue at CRC, learning more skills & progressing my knowledge.

Lee
Volunteer
I started with CRC in 2019 and work on stripping down bikes which are not going to be restored for parts that can be used in other builds.
I like taking things apart and working on bikes and teasing other members of the team.
I hope to stay and learn new skills in the workshop.

Stephen
Volunteer
I have been at CRC since 2017 and am one of the volunteer mechanics, having completed my Cy Tech 2 qualification while working here.
I fix customer bikes and help with bike builds and every day is a new day a clean sheet.
I love the community feel at CRC and in the future I hope to continue to find new challenges every day.

Louis
Volunteer
I’ve been here since June 2024.
I enjoy the company of different volunteers who work in the shop, also learning new skills and getting my hands dirty!

Eve
Volunteer
Have recently retired and decided to finally learn to ride a bike, and we heard about your centre and bought a bike
I love meeting new people and learning about new things.

Darren
Volunteer
I started getting involved with CRC in 2017 when I was still working full time. My role within the organization is to be an advisor for any particular mechanical challenges, to act as a ‘sounding board’ for business ideas and to support the volunteers in each of their respective roles.
I enjoy coming here as I feel it is a safe place for people to grow and experience different situations and challenges.
I hope to see CRC continuing in the future, to provide a great service to the community as a whole and to enable the volunteers to progress in their individual quests and aspirations.

Jakub
Volunteer
I have been at CRC since 2024
I enjoy the people I work with and the problem-solving of getting a bike to work.
I enjoy learning new skills for my future jobs, I want a future in mechanical engineering.

Hear from our Volunteers about their enriching experiences and the impact of our initiatives.
Come and volunteer, it’s like a big family. People support you through learning and fun.

Jon
External Events Team
I came to Community Recycle Cycles, initially as a place to volunteer and help and to gain skills. I really like the ethos of the shop, helping people and somewhere you can get a real bargain.

Stuart
Volunteer
I had a good basic knowledge of bike repairs which I wanted to develop more. It’s a neutral environment, a safe haven. We just go with the flow.

Stephen
Volunteer
I got involved because I wanted to do something very rewarding and fulfilling with my time. It allows me the participant to engage with people with different needs in the community.

John
Volunteer
I hope to help CRC continue to be financially secure and be a great asset to the local community.

Andy
Finance Director
I had donated two bokes and liked the idea of the project. I also wanted to improve my knowledge of bike mechanics.

Ian
Volunteer
I came to CRC as part of a volunteer initiative via the job centre via CVS. I have been unemployed for a few years & I had a couple of strokes which meant that I found it difficult to get regular paid work. I find the people I work with very friendly & supportive.

Jo
Volunteer
After hearing the amazing stories about the work CRC do, I wanted to support them with a new brand, wesbite and marketing strategy.
